CLIMATE AND CLOTHING WHILE ON A SAFARI

The areas you will be touring on safari lie so close to the Equator that the variation in temperature is quite negligible. As a large section of the savannah lies in the highlands (1500-2000 m ASL) one can expect relatively cold nights down to 10 degrees Celsius in the winter season (June, July & August) and a minimum temperature of 23 degrees Celsius during the day.
During the hot season (November, December, January & February) temperatures can shoot up between 30-35 degrees Celsius during the day. The coastal areas have however a very hot and humid climate all year round.

One does face a big risk of getting sun burnt during the summer months if exposed to the sun for long periods of time. Suntan lotion, sunglasses, sunhats and light cotton clothing covering the whole body and light comfortable shoes should thus be considered as an important part of the safari kit. A wind tight jacket and a warm sweater are advisable for chilly evenings.

Ladies must take a bit of caution in choosing what to wear, as clothing exposing too much might be considered offensive by the local population especially the elders.
